SPEAKER_00: Because girls, who
you are outside of being a mom
still matters.
It is time that we live out the
dreams and the desires that God
has placed on our hearts, even
if we don't know what that is
quite yet.
But I got you.
We're in this together.
So grab your drink, meet me on
the back porch, and let's do
this.
SPEAKER_01: So if I am being
honest with you, I sat down to
record this episode and I really
had no idea what I wanted to
talk about.
I, you know, I don't know if
you've ever had one of those
weeks where like nothing
particularly exciting happens.
You're just, you know, doing all
of the things and living your
life and checking things off
your to-do list, and then
suddenly the weekend's over and
it's time to do everything all
over again.
So that's kind of where I am.
You know, just said a quick life
update.
We still haven't found Connor
yet.
Um, and that sucks.
And I'm really sad about it, but
that is not what this is about.
Um other than that, I don't
really have any big life
updates.
Um, I don't have any incredible
story or major relevant
revelation or huge milestone.
Um, I don't really have a lesson
that I'm dying to teach you that
I learned recently myself.
Um, I do have some thoughts that
I figured that we could just
hang out for a few minutes on
the back porch, you know, grab a
cup of coffee or a glass of
wine, depending on what time
you're listening to this.
And um sometimes I think that's
you know all we need.
And uh we don't need, we don't
always need another person
telling us, you know, how to be
better, how to do more, how to,
you know, get our lives
together.
Um sometimes we just need a
friend who says, girl, same, me
too.
So let's chat and and just have
a little girlfriend backboards
chat today.
Um so one thing that kind of
I've been thinking about is how
like repetitive life can be
sometimes.
Like we wake up, we get
everybody where they need to go,
we answer messages, we run
errands, we figure out what's
for dinner, we try to remember
all the things because we're
we're responsible for
remembering for like everybody
else, right?
And then we wake up and we do it
again and again and again.
And like, why does everybody
need to eat breakfast every
single day?
Like, who decided that that was
necessary?
Like, I feel like we just had
dinner and how are we talking
about another meal?
Like all of a sudden again, like
and the laundry.
I feel like our washing machine
is running constantly, and if
it's not running constantly, I
have an overloaded pile of
laundry that I'm overwhelmed to
even try to begin.
And I don't understand how we
generate so much laundry when I
feel like we're constantly
washing clothes.
And at this point, I feel like I
don't know, maybe the laundry
basket is multiplying when
nobody's looking.
I don't know.
It just is it's too much.
And then don't even get me
started on the mental load, the
mental load to-do list.
Like it's not the things that we
actually have, well, it is
things we have to do, like
ordering lunches and making sure
that the clothes are washed so
that we have clothes for the
week.
And, you know, Bruce wears
uniforms to school, so making
sure that he has the correct
uniforms, making sure that
Bruce's homework gets done,
making sure that he, you know,
he's got ADHD.
So we've got checklist upon
checklist upon checklist so that
we know that everything gets
done and making sure that he
switches out his A-day stuff to
his B day stuff and making sure
that we have the right days
scheduled.
And anyway, I just you know, I
need to make that appointment.
I need to um reorder his
prescription.
I need to reorder my
prescription.
I need to make sure that um I,
you know, like I can't even
think straight right now, like
all of the things I need to
respond to that text.
And um I probably need to be
productive with my free time,
even though all I want to do is
lay on the couch and read my
books.
Um, and then we finally get a
you know, a minute to sit down
and I'm trying to read and then
I'm falling asleep because I'm
tired, or I'm thinking, oh no, I
didn't do that, and I need to do
that.
And why are we like this?
Like I'm genuinely asking
because I would love to know
when we all agree that we have
to be productive every single
minute.
Like sometimes I just want to
sit down, sometimes I want to
sit my water or my energize and
exist without someone else
needing me.
And I just want to read my book
or watch the new season of Tulsa
King.
Is that too much to ask?
unknown: I don't think so.
SPEAKER_01: But sometimes I do
think so.
I don't know.
Here's another thing, random
thought that I had like, why do
we always feel like we always
need to have something
interesting going on?
Like I was talking to um, I went
to C2 Aesthetics today, and I
was talking to um Alicia there,
and I was like, Yeah, we don't
have anything going on this this
Saturday.
It's coming Saturday.
Like, what are we gonna do?
Like, and Alicia's like, I can't
just sit still and do nothing.
And I was like, I know, I don't
want to just like waste a day.
SPEAKER_00: Hey friends, real
quick, I want to share something
that has truly made a difference
for me, especially in the
seasons where I am tired, I am
overwhelmed, and I'm trying to
keep all of this the plates
spinning and keep them from
falling and crashing and
burning.
You know that I am big on doing
things that are simple but
intentional, and that's exactly
why I love gut personal.
I started taking their
supplements a long time ago
because I was dealing with low
energy, brain fog, and that
constant feeling of just being
off.
And two of my absolute favorite
products that they have are the
Miracle Worker and the Sunshine
Plus.
The Miracle Worker supports gut
health, which, let's be honest,
affects everything.
And the Sunshine Plus helps with
food, energy, and overall
wellness.
I noticed a difference without
feeling like I just added one
more overwhelming thing to my
day.
And it truly made a difference.
So if you're in a season of
taking better care of yourself,
but you want to do it in a way
that is doable and sustainable,
this is a really good place to
start.
You can stop at.getpersonal at
www.getpersonal.com.
And when you use my code
Christy10, C-H-R-Y-S-T-Y and the
number 10, you'll get 10% off
your order.
But here's a reminder caring for
your body is not selfish, it is
stewardship.
You're allowed to feel good,
you're allowed to have energy,
and you are allowed to invest in
yourself.
So don't forget, head to
gutpersonal.com, use Christy10,
and start small.
Your future self will thank you.
All right, girl, let's jump back
in.
SPEAKER_01: But like, why do we
always have to have something
interesting going on?
I even caught myself like doing
this while trying to figure out
what to talk about, you know,
for the podcast today.
I kept thinking, like, what
happened this week?
What do I have to share?
What's something worth talking
about?
And then I realized that maybe
nothing particularly exciting
happened, and maybe I just had a
normal weekend.
Maybe that's okay.
I don't know.
I think maybe social media can
make us feel like everybody has
all of these amazing things
constantly going on.
Someone's traveling, somebody's
launching a business, somebody's
having a breakthrough,
somebody's house looks
immaculate.
Um, they've somehow made it,
made a beautiful dinner on a
Tuesday.
They have this beautiful
tablescape, their house is
decorated amazingly for
Halloween, and we haven't even
pulled out our Halloween
decorations yet.
And I'm just trying to remember
why I walked into the kitchen.
I don't know if you can relate
to that.
And listen, I love seeing what
everybody is doing.
It's so fun.
I love a good trip recap.
I love fun family pictures.
I love getting to see
everybody's experiences.
And I'm not saying that we need
to stop sharing the exciting
stuff because I absolutely love
that.
It's super fun.
But I also think that it's nice
to remember that most of life
isn't made up of highlight
moments.
Like next week's podcast, I'm
gonna have some highlight
moments because my girlfriend
and I are going to New York.
And you better believe I will
have a recap episode of that.
But today, today is all about
the ordinary days that we live
the majority of the time.
And the conversations that we
have in the car, the random
things our kids say, the errands
that we run and evenings when we
just don't do anything
particularly special.
Like those are the ordinary
days, those are the ordinary
moments, those are the 95% of
the time life that we live.
And maybe we don't have to turn
every single experience into
like something meaning
meaningful, like a meaningful
life lesson.
But maybe sometimes a Tuesday is
just a Tuesday.
Maybe a Monday is just a Monday.
And I think I'm learning that
I'm okay with that.
And so instead of like
pretending I have this big topic
today, let me ask you something.
What are you into right now?
Let's do a check-in.
Like, what are you doing?
What are you reading?
Like, what book are you reading
that you cannot put down?
Or a book that you just finished
reading, I want to hear about
it.
What show are you watching that
you are completely obsessed
with?
Like, have you fallen down some
like random internet rabbit hole
that you absolutely did not
intend to spend two hours
exploring?
Because I love those little
things.
And I love having something
that's just for fun and
something that like doesn't need
to be productive or meaningful
or connected to some bigger
goal.
And I think sometimes, like in
the middle of motherhood and all
of the responsibilities that
come with being an adult, we
forget that like we're allowed
to enjoy things simply because
we enjoy them and enjoy doing
them, and we don't have to
monetize every hobby and we
don't have to like turn every
interest into a new project.
Um, and we don't have to like
justify every minute that isn't
spent doing something for
somebody else, right?
Like sometimes we can just like
what we like.
And so I'm curious, what is your
current thing?
Like, what are you liking just
to like?
Like something that just brings
you joy.
And, you know, if we were
sitting together on the back
porch or sitting together having
lunch, like what would you tell
be telling me about right now?
I want to hear all of the random
stuff.
Like, did you get a new pet?
Or did you see something that
was so funny and you just have
to get off your chest and tell
somebody about it?
Like, I want to hear all of
those because those little
conversations, those are my
favorite.
Because yes, this is start
scared with Christy, but like
you're a part of this community,
and I want to know what's going
on in your life too.
So send me a DM on Instagram at
Christy Lockhart because I want
to know.
Like, tell me all of the things,
what is going on in your life
right now, even if they're
mundane, even if they're normal,
even if they're boring, because
then we can share our boring,
normal, ordinary lives together.
Because wouldn't that be fun?
That like we're not all living
these lives with these big huge
experiences.
All right, girl, that is all
I've got for you today.
Nothing major, just real life.
And maybe that's exactly what we
needed today.
Like maybe, or you know, maybe
that's just what we needed this
week.
A reminder that we don't have to
have exciting news every time
someone asks us how we're doing,
or, you know, we don't have to
turn every experience into a
lesson, and we don't have to,
you know, be constantly
improving ourselves to be worthy
of just a little bit of rest and
some enjoyment.
We're allowed to have ordinary
weeks.
We're allowed to just rest in
the mundane and we're allowed to
be a work in progress without
like actively working on
ourselves every single minute of
the day.
And we're allowed to show up
exactly as we are, even when we
don't have anything interesting
to tell.
Like if you're listening today
and your life feels a little
repetitive, wash, rinse, repeat,
do it again and again and again,
and you're just going through
the motions.
I hope that you give yourself a
little bit of grace because
you're not doing anything wrong.
You're not doing life wrong
because just because nothing
extraordinary is happening right
now.
And if you have a fun book, a
great show or a random obsession
that you think I need to know
about, please come and tell me.
I love hearing from you.
I want to hear from you.
Thank you again for spending
some minutes, some minutes, some
time with me today.
And if you enjoyed this little
catch up, share this episode
with a friend who could use some
company of a random 42 year old,
crazy just thoughts that are
popping in.
Just nothing extraordinary, just
a little ordinary.
All right, girl, until next
time, remember I love you.
I'm reading for you, and
remember if you matter, I will
see you next week.
Same time, same place.
